What to do with pieces of left over stabilizer
If your sewing room has containers of pieces of left over stabilizer, then you’re not alone. As an embroiderer, I often have pieces of left over tear away from projects I have already made. They are usually too big to just discard, but too small to fit a hoop. I just don’t have the heart to throw them out. So, now I have several containers of these left over pieces. The big question is,”What to do with them and how to use them up?”
If you have been asking yourself this question, then this might just be the answer.
I recently found this very interesting video from Lisa Capen Quilts. With a bit of glue and an iron, you will soon be joining up your left over pieces of tear away stabilizer, making them reusable. I have tried this and have found it works really well. I have now managed to reuse most of my left over pieces.
Have a look at this video and see just how easy it is to join up your left over pieces of stabilizer.
I love your idea to glue pieces of stabilizers together. I sew mine together and get good results.

Thank you! I too have scraps of stabilizer saved in a box. I have heard of gluing it but I was a bit leery on trying that.
After watching your video I will try it! Stabilizer is expensive! Thank you!
I don’t see any link to purchase this stabilizer.
Hi Mary. When I came across this video by Lisa, I thought this would be great to try. I had heard about gluing stabilizer pieces together, but heat setting it with an iron was a great idea. I just had to share the video.
Hi Kris. When I came across Lisa’s video, I just had to share this great tip. After having tried it myself on several projects, I can say it really works.
